Look, I love what Vince Marrow did for the Kentucky Football program before shockingly jumping ship to Louisville. He loved the fans during his time here, and seemed obviously passionate about the role. Still, I think he's one of the best recruiting closers still in the game. But sometimes, someone across enemy lines needs to tell the Big Dog not to push post on his X account.
Marrow's most recent offense came after Will Stein landed yet another Ohio commitment, a place where Vince Marrow is generally used to dominating. According to Hayes Fawcett on X, three-star defensive lineman Jaylen Mercer chose Kentucky over both Louisville and West Virginia on Friday.
Another day, another win for Will Stein. This time, though, the pressure of the Big Blue Nation online got to Marrow. He wasn't taking this news lying down.
Marrow Tries to Calm Cardinals Fans
After Mercer announced his commitment to Kentucky, Marrow fired off a post aimed at calming Cardinals fans' fears that Kentucky may have already passed them in recruiting, not even one full cycle after making a new hire.
We have who we want from ohio. Lol we waiting on one more peace. Donāt listen to fake news Cards fans.

Not only that, but Marrow would shortly fall for a burner account run by a supposed Kentucky fan (clearly) pretending to be offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, replying to the fake post with a paragraph-long diatrabe about the supposed "fake news."
It's a bad look, to say the least.
Louisville's Redundant Recruiting
Besides, if Louisville has what they want from the Ohio scene, why us Marrow continuing to recruit more players? Would the Cards not have wanteed four-star offensive tackle Dominic Black? They offered him, and he chose Kentucky. Or how about four-star safety Tristan Hughes? You get the picture.
I do get trying to tame fans who are watching their rival surpass a years-long operation in just one offseason. It wasn't too long ago that Mark Stoops said that Kentucky didn't have the money to compete for high school recruits, and they focused on the portal. But now, Will Stein has a top 15 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, while Louisville sits back at No. 23.
On the whole, Kentucky's recruiting class now has 24 commitments, with that total rising almost by the literal day.
Regardless of his admirable time in Lexington, Marrow missed the mark in a brutal way here. As for Coach Stein, he's doing exactly what he said he would: building a real competitor at Kroger Field. The next test will be keeping the class together throughout summer flip season; then, of course, he'll have to win games this fall, hopefully including the matchup with Louisville at the end of the year.
