Kentucky football is undergoing a complete facelift right now. Will Stein is in the process of instilling a new, aggressive approach that will have BBN ecstatic. But it’s not just the on-field energy making headlines; Stein is attracting some of the best talent in the country.
The latest big name on the board? 4-star EDGE Aidan O’Neil, who just locked in a visit to Lexington for June.

The "sack merchant" search
A Ramsey, New Jersey native, O’Neil is a big boy, 6'5 240 pounds, and has an offer sheet to match the hype. He’s currently ranked as the No. 9 EDGE in the country and a Top-100 player in the 2027 class.
That is elite-level talent for a Kentucky team that hasn't had a true "sack merchant" since Josh Allen back in 2018 (who finished with a staggering 17 sacks). The Cats haven't seen a double-digit sack total from a single player since. Deone Walker got close with 8 during his sophomore campaign, but the program is hungry for a double-digit disruptor.
If you can find that level of production from one guy on one side, it opens up so much for your defense. Your back end can be more aggressive, and the offensive line has to gameplan for just one guy.
Now I am not saying O'Neil will be Josh Allen right away or anything. But the talent level is there for him to have that kind of impact. That is exciting.
The Battle for O'Neil will be fiece
It won’t be an easy win on the recruiting trail. Kentucky is facing stiff competition from some of the biggest brands in the country, including:
- Indiana
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
Despite the heavy hitters, Kentucky will have O’Neil on campus for an official visit on June 5th.
Can the Cats Close?
Will Stein and defensive assistant Tony Washington are putting in the work to show O'Neil that Lexington is the place to be for elite edge rushers. O'Neil already visited for Junior Day back in January, so getting him back for an official visit in June is a massive step in the right direction.
Can they close the deal? If so, the "facelift" of Kentucky football might just include its most dangerous pass rusher in nearly a decade.
