The Big Blue Nation always want to see their favorite Wildcats go on to succeed at the next level, whatever that may look like. More often than not, it's a star-studded prospect leaving Rupp Arena for the NBA as a result of the almost always unfailing big blue pipeline.
However, even in the waning years of the Mark Stoops era for Kentucky Football, a number of Cats players made it to the NFL level, one way or another. One of those such players, who happened to be on Stoops' last ever team in Lexington, was wide receiver Kendrick Law.
Law was taken in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. His young, promising career has only just begun; but unfortunately, Law suffered a brutal setback in practice this week. This one-year Kentuckian needs your love, BBN.
Lions insider Tim Twentyman broke the tragedy of a torn ACL on X, confirming that Detroit head coach, Dan Campbell, had relayed the news of Tuesday's incident.
A Promising Young Career
Anyone who follows athletics, in any sport, knows the severity of a torn ACL. For Law's sake, I'd rather not discuss what it could mean for his path in the league going forward. This is primarily because, just as he fought hard on a game-by-game basis at Kentucky, the receiver has plenty of time and room to do the same on the next level.

The speedy 6-foot receiver, after spending his first three seasons in college with the Alabama Crimson Tide, became a primary option for Kentucky in his senior year. This was in spite of the Cats' carousel at quarterback that never really allowed the offense to find efficient footing.
Even so, Law posted career-high metrics across the board as a Wildcat, coming down with three touchdowns and 540 yards on 53 receptions. His previous high in the receptions category was just 15, back in 2023. The senior leap was one to behold for Law.
Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat
And he could have been even better, even more effective, had Kentucky had any clue what to do about their ongoing conundrum under center. That positional issue seemed to last years under Stoops, and certainly limited a number of receivers along the way.
Still, Law's talent was obvious enough to elevate him to the next level by way of a draft selection. And while this is a terribly timed setback for the rookie receiver, his NFL journey has still only just begun.
Let Law feel your support any way you can, Cats fans. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat; we'll still be around when the blue-blooded receiver bounces back and succeeds in no time at all.
