The Big Blue Nation will always shot out in unmatched numbers to support Kentucky Athletics. Cats fans' reputed presence on the road is one thing, but the decibel meter at any arena in Lexington is about the loudest college sports has to offer across the board. It simply means more to Kentucky fans.
Yet, sometimes it means more on an empty stomach. Modern concession prices skyrocketing at athletic events is unfortunately a trend Kentucky has not evaded. After buying tickets (also growing in price) already, many fans may struggle to go the extra mile and treat themselves at the game.
That sucks, but thankfully, it appears to be ending now. No longer will the BBN be forced to pay restaurant prices at games, at least for the most part.
According to Matt Jones on X, Kentucky is set to lower food and drink prices at all sporting events that take place on campus this year. Basically, your snacks just got a whole lot cheaper, Cats fans. Due to it being away from campus, Rupp Arena ice cream will still cost $7... although, I pay it every time. Maybe I'm the problem.
As I mentioned on KSR, hearing Kentucky is going to be lowering food and drink prices at all On-campus sporting events this year, including football

Significant decrease as well…very good for fans and I think a great change by UK Athletics
Coach Stein at Concessions
Upon the announcement, football head coach Will Stein chimed in on the exciting news (per UK Athletics): "Big Blue Nation, it's Coach Stein. I'm thinking about when I was a kid, going to Commonwealth Stadium, now Kroger Field. I used to absolutely crush the concession stand food..."
Me too, coach. Me too.
Stein continued, "So now with the compass group, great prices, elite prices. Why is that important? Go down, get your hot dog, get your popcorn ready, we're gonna be lighting this thing up at Kroger Field." Maybe you'll see Coach Stein in the concessions line this fall, BBN.
UK Athletics followed this news on X with a specific outline of prices at both Kroger Field and Memorial Coliseum. Hot dogs go from $5 to $3, as do pretzels, 20oz. soda and water drops from $7 to $4, among much else.
This is far from a pattern across college athletics, unfortunately, and Kentucky fans traveling to any opposing stadium to cheer on their Cats will likely still have to take out a loan for anything more than a box of candy.
Still, it's exciting news for Kentucky Athletics that's absolutely worth celebrating. Gearing up to hire a new athletic director hasn't stopped the school from making strides to satisy fans between playing seasons. Get ready for the cheapest gameday experience of your lives this fall, BBN!
