The hits just keep coming, Big Blue Nation. Will Stein and Kentucky have been on a roll this Sunday, with two commitments breaking in the early afternoon over at Kroger field. On top of that, Mark Pope secured his first ever five-star commitment out of high school in Ryan Hampton.
To say that it’s been a good weekend would be an understatement, and it’s not over yet. Coach Stein continues to make a case for Kentucky being the fastest rebuild in college football. While one of his teams has yet to take the field, everything the lead-Cat has accomplished thus far suggests a program entirely renewed.
After four-star defensive lineman Malachi Brown and three-star linebacker Drew Williams locked in their blue and white allegiance earlier today, the class of 2027 just added an offensive piece in the form of Austin Coles, per Hayes Fawcett on X.
We’re running out of welcome letters, Cats fans. How about a round of applause for Will Stein’s latest snag?
Home Away From Home
Coles, a three-star wide receiver out of the sunshine state, chose Kentucky over both the Florida Gators, and the Florida State Seminoles. That alone should say enough about Stein’s prowess on the recruiting trail. But those weren’t the only schools battling Kentucky for this receiving weapon.

SEC opponent Arkansas, as well as the western Wildcats of Arizona, were also making a push for Coles down the stretch. Aside from Stein’s general success with recruiting, you have to imagine that Kentucky’s situation at quarterback helped bring this thing home.
With No. 2 overall signal caller Jake Nawrot leading the way for the blue and whites’s 2027 class already, it makes sense why any receiver would want to come and play in Lexington.
A Big Blue Leader
Even if that means turning down the two biggest football programs in his home state. We just do it differently in Kentucky, regardless of the sport or scenario.
At 6-foot-4, Coles presents as a deep threat that Kentucky’s offense should be able to utilize right off the bat. He’s a promising athlete with high playmaking upside. Besides, who doesn’t want to play for Will Stein right now? Kentucky’s new captain has exhibited all of the promising features that a young recruit could ask for in a leader.
All that’s left to do now is win football games in the fall… and as long as Stein keeps recruiting like this, I can’t imagine he’ll have much trouble with that. The future is bright and it’s already here, BBN.
