One of the biggest frustrations Cats fans have had with the Kentucky Football gameday experience is that the university always announces any fun details far too late for it to make a difference; how could you have known you're supposed to be in white, not blue, when you're already tailgating?

Well, that's no longer the case under Will Stein.

No more "blue out" not working at all as a result of a mistimed, basically ignored call to arms. Coach Stein, on Kentucky Football's social media, just unveiled the entire promo schedule with a video that should have the Big Blue Nation thrilled to show out at Kroger Field:

The video debuted alongside graphics that simply tell you what color you should wear based on what section you're in at a specific game. Now, we've got no excuse for the stadium not to follow along. Kroger Field is about to be tricked out.

The lone blackout against the Florida Gators, I believe, is especially interesting. Former Wildcat coaches Jon Sumrall and Brad White are coming back to town, and Stein's Cats are all decked out in front of a blacked-out crowd screaming their heads off. That's SEC football, baby.

These sorts of events have worked for other Kentucky teams in the very recent past. Just last season, women's hoops did a half-blue, half-white promo for the last game of the regular season. It went nearly perfect as the fans at Memorial Coliseum played along brilliantly; it helps that the whole thing looks awesome on TV when it's pulled off correctly, no matter the sport.

This looks like the year where the football program finally catches up in this regard, and the importance of Stein and co. doing so goes beyond the admitted cool factor.

Fan Engagement is Crucial at Home

A win in the SEC is extremely hard to come by - Kentucky has just six over the last three years of football. All the struggles at home were well documented along the way, too, as Kentucky lost 10 straight conference battles at home. It's hard to take advantage of your home crowd when little to nothing is done to get them invested.

When a team walks into LSU's Death Valley in front of a crowd is dressed out in white and gold, going nuts, it truly makes it harder to play there. I'm not saying we fully turn Kroger Field into Death Valley (the difference is about $20 million in NIL funds), but as fans, it's our job to get rowdy.

That's why it helps when the team we're cheering on is both playing well and, beyond that, throwing exciting twists into an experience that can get stale with middling results. Fans should be thrilled that Will Stein seems to be building toward success on both those fronts.
