West Virginia just ended Kentucky Baseball's postseason run for a second straight year, crooning the state tune 'Country Roads' as the Bat Cats got on the bus home. On top of that, older Cats fans will remember the aggravating 1-3-1 defense that took a title chance away from Kentucky Basketball in 2010. The Mountaineers are a real, ongoing pain.
And now, they've got Kentucky Football in their crosshairs. According to On3 and Nick Roush, that three-star CB Bryian Duncan Jr. would become the first flip away from Will Stein and Kentucky, as the Georgia native officially swapped his allegiance to West Virginia following a recent visit.
As a head coach who has already conducted this process successfully from the other side this offseason, it can't be all that surprising that another program has turned the tables on the Wildcats.
We have the first defection of the 2027 recruiting class. Bryian Duncan Jr. flipped from Kentucky to West Virginia. https://t.co/026jMRnf02 pic.twitter.com/SBsN5J6SST

Recruiting had grown painfully complex in recent year, especially when it comes to college football. Even after players sign letters of intent, they can still ask for a release and, of course, flip their commitment. Until a players signs and are enrolled and on campus, things have a high capacity to change. In short, don't get too attached, Big Blue Nation.
Kentucky did, however, land a number of athletes who have confirmed that they will not be taking additional visits, effectively shutting down their recruitment. This includes in-state commit Brady Hull. But even then, you never know.
For now, the Kentucky class is still headlined by four-star QB Jake Nawrot, who showed out at the Elite 11 camp in California, and is also the fourth highest rated recruit to ever sign with Kentucky Football. Even given this three-star loss, Kentucky still has a seriously strong 2027 class.
A Strong Class Nonetheless
In addition to Nawrot, the undeniable headliner, four-star safety Marquis Bryant made waves as a high-ranking pickup on the other side of the ball. The Wildcats also secured three-star tight end Trae 'Tank' Proctor (the aforementioned flip to Kentucky), as well as running back Mason Ball, wide receiver Iveon Lewis, and, more recently, cornerback Miles Brown.
These are just but a few of those that remain in the Cats' current class of the future; it's never preferable to outright lose a guy to another school, but Stein remains active on the recruiting trail to fill that gap and others.
The Cats' new coach has given no reason for fans to doubt his process up to now. We're gonna be just fine, BBN.
