Are you getting tired of reading about talented players visiting Kentucky football on the opening day of the portal? No? Me either. The band marches on as Chris Hummer reports that linebacker Robert Woodyard is currently in Lexington. That should make you exicited, let me tell you why.
Robert Woodyard is an elite linebacker
Woodyard is the number 2 linebacker in the portal. He was actually number one until Rasheem Biles of Pitt jumped in. He is very good at what he does, and that is getting downhill and stopping the run.
In 2025, 67 tackles and 2 sacks, including 5 tackles when Kentucky went down to Auburn and pulled off a 10-3 win that almost saved Mark Stoops' job. But alas, Stoops would lose in blowout fashion to Vanderbilt and Louisville, setting the stage for Will Stein to come in and elevate Kentucky to a new level.
The downside is that he is not a very good coverage linebacker, but that is why Sam Greene's staying in Lexington is such a huge deal. You don't need all your linebackers to be nimble guys; you need some smashmouth hitters. That is what Woodyard does, and again, he does it very well.

In addition to Woodyard, Will Stein has a visit set up with former Arkansas linebacker Tavion Wallace. Tavion is the brother of former Kentucky legend Trevin, whose blocked field goal return is one of the greatest plays in modern Kentucky history.
With so many visitors in Lexington on the first few days of the Transfer Portal, it is clear that Will Stein wants to wrap up a lot of the roster before heading back to Eugene for the Ducks' matchup with the 1 seed Indiana on the 9th.
Reports are indicating that there should be at least 5, maybe more, commits after this weekend is over. Stay tuned right here as we break any and all news.
