When you make it to the NBA and make an All-Star team, you're bound to come equipped with a little swagger. That's exactly what Mark Pope needs (now assistant coach) Mo Williams will bring to this new-look Kentucky basketball roster. And, after his latest interview, it seems Coach Mo is happy to oblige.

Speaking on Run It Back, Chandler Parsons asked Mo Williams if Kentucky was loaded up with all they needed next season. Williams replied, "Absolutely, obviously, we still got a couple more spots to fill."

Those couple of spots are probably going to go to a Euro prospect like Michael Ružić, or guys coming back to college after declining to stay in the NBA Draft, like Milan Momcilovic. But Williams believes Kentucky is set to have a really good year regardless, and part of the reason he joined Kentucky was to ensure that happened.

Coach Mo Gets the BBN

"For me, I was a head coach the last six years, and being a head coach you are able to run your program... We want to be in a position to compete for a national championship, said Williams. "So for me, that was my decision to leave... to build something special, to have an opportunity to win a national championship, which we have all the resources in the world to accomplish those goals."

That last bit is undoubtedly music to BBN's ears after worrying reports that Kentucky's ability to compete and land the best of the best on the recruiting front was dwindling.

We'll have to see how things play out this coming season, but that high-reaching standard certainly didn't seem to be the met when Kentucky missed on all 14 of the nation's top 20 high school players in the current class.

A New Recruiting Element

Yet, Williams - a recent addition - may help bridge the recruiting gap that Coach Pope has thus far suffered.

"Doing what I do best, and get in homes and recruit the best players. At the end of the day, develop them and get them to the level they want to get to." Williams wasn't around when most of those prospects visited.

He did have some involvement in the Tyran Stokes saga which, of course, didn't end up going in Kentucky's favor. With the staff shrinking this offseason - Kentucky saw two assistants (Jason Hart and Alvin Brooks III) depart, and two more are on expiring contracts next month (Cody Fueger and Mark Fox) - there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than simply trying to get guys.

Right now, though, Kentucky has a team nonetheless, and Williams and Pope are trying to finalize those last few roster spots. Williams' love for Kentucky is a unique, compelling feature, but the BBN has heard all about championships and knows what it's like to want to win one.

Actually winning one, however, is the golden calf that continues to elude this program. Cats fans are after results, and it'll likely take consistent recruiting win from Williams and his staff-mates to get there.
