Give it time, and Will Stein will be able to build up the Kentucky Wildcats how he envisions. However, there does seem to be a bit of a recruiting war brewing between Kentucky and Kyle Whittingham's new team in the Michigan Wolverines of late. Kentucky was able to get cornerback Andre Clarke Jr. to flip from Michigan at the start of the year. Michigan is going big-game hunting for Brady Hull now...
As of Monday night, Michigan has offered the noted 2027 interior offensive line commit for Kentucky.

Hull committed to Kentucky earlier this month on Feb. 5 out of Pulaski County. He may only be a three-star commit, but the Michigan offer may play a part in his stock starting to rise. Prior to getting this offer, Hull only had 18. Including Kentucky, he also has offers from the likes of Duke, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. More and more Power Four teams are in on this guy now.
For Whittingham to think he can come and get a local product from Kentucky has to make Stein mad.
Will Stein must stop Michigan from taking 3-star IOL commit Brady Hull
Although these two teams are competing at different levels in their respective Power Two leagues, their offseason coaching changes have served as a spark in an attempt to return to glory. For Michigan, the Wolverines lost their footing just a bit under Sherrone Moore. Can Whittingham get them back to Jim Harbaugh levels? As for Kentucky, Stein could eclipse Mark Stoops' best seasons.
The interesting part in all this is both programs regularly make it a point to win in the trenches. Players get developed and drafted high along the offensive lines at both of these schools. While Michigan does win a bit more, Kentucky has made it a point to be far more competitive on the gridiron over the last 15 years or so. Hiring Stein away from Oregon could be exactly what this teams over on offense.
And that right there is what is so important in all of this. Stoops was a defensive-minded head coach. He essentially made Kentucky into a facsimile of his alma mater of Iowa. Great on defense, menacing in the trenches, and spectacular on special teams. As far as offensive firepower is concerned, not so much... Stein ran a high-octane offense at Oregon, but needs guys like Hull to block up front for him.
Overall, the allure of the Michigan offer could have Hull contemplating if he does want to play for his home state's flagship university. Being able to come home was huge for Stein. However, Hull's recruiting stock seems to be climbing at a rapid rate. One should expect that he will be picking up a few more notable offers in the coming weeks and months. Yes, UK should view Michigan as a threat.
At this time, let's just get to spring ball and see what happens when it comes to the recruiting front.
