Kentucky Baseball just dropped the second of their three season-ending games against No. 10 Arkansas, making their incoming final matchup potentially decisive for the team's postseason fate; but that took a backseat to what happened in the bottom of the third at Kentucky Proud Park.
Braxton Van Cleave hit a bouncer up the middle; Arkansas misplayed the ball, which allowed Kentucky to score one run when Jayce Tharnish crossed home plate. But when Van Cleave rounded first and charged towards second, disaster struck.
Arkansas shortstop Camden Kozeal walked right into the base path, and Van Cleave appeared to hit his head into the back of Kozeal's head and shoulder, going down hard on the turf.
He didn't get back up, at least not immediately - Kentucky's players gathered around and prayed for BVC, and Arkansas' players were pulled off the field in the meantime.

Van Cleave was stretchered out, and the game eventually got back on track. Yet, the WIldcats failed to fully overcome the Razorbacks. In the midst of this scary injury early in the game, it's hard to blame them. All eyes are on game three early this afternoon and, until then, BVC.
Braxton Van Cleave is on the Mend
Thankfully, BVC seems to be doing well. After the game, Nick Mingione discussed the injury and what it did to the team:
""That rattled our team because of how much they care for him and each other. We had a good moment where we got together and regrouped and I know Braxton would have wanted us to finish that game hard. (He is a) tough guy but that stuff even rattled me... He has some swelling, so we'll know more as that continues to go down."Nick Mingione
We'll be sure to keep tabs on Van Cleave's condition as things continue to develop; of course, BBN, don't be afraid to make your support known for our Wildcat on social media.
As for the series itself, the rubber game will be played at 2 PM ET. Win, and Kentucky is almost assuredly heading to the NCAA Tournament. But lose, and things get extremely dicey. Sitting at 31-19, the Cats were generally seen as one of the last four in heading into this series.
Mounting 20 losses would be a big deal for a team that was at one point 18-3, in the worst possible way. You can catch all the action on SEC Network+or by clicking here for the audio, or here for live stats.
