The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is unlike any other sporting event on the current basketball landscape. It's impossible to predict exactly how a roster will ultimately turn out; players aren't necessarily bound to appearing, and that relatively relaxed approach to the league has officially come around to bite Kentucky's La Familia team.
Well, at least it has in the case of Quade Green. Kerr Kriisa and Reed Travis are unable to play due to circumstances beyond their control, but Green, a former blue and white point guard and one of the younger presences intended to strengthen La Familia's squad, has dropped out for personal reasons.
Suddenly, a Kentucky team that initially seemed more than prepared to take on Louisville's 'The Ville' bunch in a three-game series appears seriously underprepared. Factor in Archie Goodwin missing this weekend's game one due to a scheduling conflict, and you've got a far from favorable outlook.
UK Athletics just sent out an email with the @LaFamiliaTBT final roster, with a few more changes ahead of this weekend's tournament #BBN

The good news is, as Maggie Davis notes on X, La Familia replaced Green with big Marcus Lee in their final roster announcement. Lee, who played under John Calipari in Lexington from 2013-16, returns to the basketball capital of the world as a final promising fill-in for a roster in dire need.
The Big Blue Nation has absolutely missed Lee, and pairing him with Willie Cauley-Stein in 2026 is something I don't think any of us knew we needed. But La Familia has still seen more bad news than good ahead of their incoming debut.
Quade Green's Exit is More Bad News for La Familia
It's hard not to be a little pessimistic after three guys originally meant to compete are scratched from the team. That's less time for any incoming replacements to mesh in what is already a short practice window for La Familia; with runs beginning earlier this week, on Monday, we're looking at a few short days for the apparent final makeup to come together.
Not ideal in the slightest. Still, Historic Memorial Coliseum will be rocking come Saturday, no matter who ends up taking the floor in the blue and white. When Louisville comes to Lexington, no matter the form, it's going to be a wild environment.
And with a three-game series on the line and the aforementioned Goodwin returning for game two regardless, who knows what could happen? We all know Cauley-Stein tends to turn up the heat against Montrezl Harrell; The Ville are walking right into that firestorm already.
All the bad news doesn't mean La Familia is bound to lose. Let's try and hold onto hope a little while longer for our former Cats.
