Kentucky Basketball: Immanuel Quickley Signs with the Wildcats
By Jordan Ison
Head coach John Calipari once again shows he’s one of the best recruiters in the nation as Kentucky Basketball signs Immanuel Quickley.
Kentucky basketball got their first 5-star recruit of the 2018 class on Friday. Immanuel Quickley is a point guard out of Maryland. He announced he would be signing with the Wildcats during a news conference at his high school.
Quickley is rated as the number 3 point guard in the 2018 class, as well as number 12 overall, according to ESPN. He expressed that Kentucky was his destination of choice before the summer began. Kentucky quickly made him a top target.
Immanuel Quickley also visited with Kansas and Miami before selecting Kentucky on Friday. He may be the first 5-star recruit of the 2018 class for the Wildcats, but it’s doubtful that he will be the last.

As before reported, Zion Williamson was supposed to visit the University of Kentucky this weekend. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, Williamson had to cancel his visit. Despite this, it should be rescheduled soon. Williamson is the number 2 overall player in the 2018 class.
Those are not all of the 5-star recruits Calipari is aiming for, still. As reported, Kentucky has it’s sights set on 6 other 5-stars. This list includes RJ Barrett, Bol Bol, Keldon Johnson, Darius Garland, Quentin Grimes and Jaxson Hayes.
John Calipari is looking to have another top recruiting class in 2018. Things are looking good for that dream to come true. Coach Cal is known for losing players to the draft then reloading, so he’s probably preparing for that happening after the 2017 season.

It’s never too early to start thinking Kentucky basketball. It may only be 2017, but it’s good to see Calipari out working to improve the 2018 team already. Immanuel Quickley is just one small step towards another huge recruiting class in 2018.
