Sad news broke today for women's basketball fans, especially Kentucky women's basketball fans. The Washington Mystics announced today that sixth overall pick and former Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball player Georgia Amoore tore her ACL in practice on Tuesday and is beginning the process towards recovery as soon as possible.

Amoore was set to begin her WNBA career this season after spending four seasons at Virginia Tech and one season at Kentucky. The Mystics are set to play the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 3, a game that Amoore most likely would have made her debut in a Mystics uniform.

This injury, unfortunately, will take Amoore out for the entirety of the 2025 season, her rookie season. Depending on how long her rehabilitation takes will determine if Amoore will be back for the start of the 2026 season.

No one deserves an injury like this, but her health is of the utmost importance at this point.

The Kentucky faithful are absolutely devastated over this news and hope to see her back on the court next season, sending up three-pointers from insane range.

Truly, all anyone can do is send thoughts and prayers to Amoore for a fast recovery.

If fans could actually do that, there would probably be a line formed in order to do so.

You and every other Kentucky and Virginia Tech women's basketball fan. Amoore had an amazing college career, and so many people were excited to see her play at the next level. All that is left to do is hope that she has a speedy recovery and can be back on the court at full strength next season.
