Louisville fans can't really count on wins on the hardwood to survive in the bluegrass state's oldest rivalry; in that regard, Kentucky has the deal wrapped up with certainty. But, I'd be remiss not to mention Cards fans claiming preseason recruiting victories where they can get them.
But all is fair in hatred and war, and truth be told, any chance either the Big Blue Nation or the medium-sized red nation (?) get a chance to claim a win over their opposers, it'll be swooped up just as quickly as it lands. Most recently, The Basketball Tournament (TBT) pitted both based against one another in a direct competition of ticket sales.
As Kentucky's La Familia alumni team, and Louisville's The Ville, prepare to face off in a three-game series in this year's iteration of the summer tournament, the league itself promised game three's potential home court advantage to whichever team sold the most tickets in the first day.
TBT's official X account just broke the news that the BBN have officially outbid Louisville fans for their that advantage, if the series comes down to that split. Someone play a tune on the world's smallest violin.
A Short, Violent History
La Familia and the Ville met one singular time in TBT's short history, with the 2024 contest - which took place in Louisville - seeing Kentucky come out on top before a series of literal spitting and fighting broke loose on the sidelines.
BREAKING NEWS: Big Blue Nation has done it!

Kentucky fans bought more tickets than Louisville fans in the last 24 hours and now La Familia WILL HOST GAME 3 (if necessary) in Lexington at Memorial Coliseum!

Clearly, leaving these schools as alumni does nothing to water down the beef that sizzles during their respective tenures in either city. Some of these guys played at completely different intervals, and years apart from one another.
But at any point, when players take the court in blue or red, it all comes back. The BBN have now made their support loud and clear and, once more, should be set to pack Memorial Coliseum for the first game of the series.
Pack Memorial Coliseum
With two months remaining until Willie Cauley-Stein, Archie Goodwin, Reid Travis, and others yet to be announced take the floor for game one (July 18), Cats fans have plenty of time left to both secure their seats and talk trash to opposing fans on social media.
With Mark Pope's third-year roster not tipping off in Rupp Arena until this fall, the TBT is basically the only way to avoid the ongoing basketball drought in the bluegrass. It's a light yet uber-competitive tournament with, this time around, $2 million on the line for either group.
I'd tell the BBN to continue to let their presence be known behind La Familia, but I know the best fanbase in the world never sleeps. Come a rough season, big games and, in this case, hoops in mid-July.
