Jokes on them.

Kentucky football is on a recruiting tear, and it has Tennessee fans talking — mostly because they don’t like what they’re seeing. When Will Stein posts about building the program “brick by brick,” Vols fans rush in to mock him, especially after Kentucky flipped Lance Heard from Tennessee.

The funny thing is, Kentucky keeps landing quarterbacks, and Tennessee can't even get one.

Florida Atlantic QB Transfer Carson Cruver is a Cat

Carson Cruver has committed to Kentucky as a PWO, not to be confused with the greatest wrestling faction of all time, the nWo. A PWO (Preferred Walk-On) is an invited player offered a roster spot without an initial athletic scholarship but with a strong chance to earn one later. This is unlike a regular walk-on who must try out.

Cruver has thrown just three passes in his college career so far, completing one of them for nine yards. But his background suggests there is talent to mold.

He has been working with QB trainer Brian Thiebaud, who has a proven track record, having coached the likes of:

  • Sam Ehlinger (Texas/NFL)
  • Kyle Trask (Florida/NFL)
  • Cade Klubnik (Clemson)

And now he gets to work with Joe Sloan, who was Jayden Daniels' QB coach when he won the Heisman, and Will Stei,n who is a QB whisperer. He helped Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel to the Heisman finals, and might make Dante Moore a top pick this year. So, if this staff sees something, there is a reason to believe he has the goods.

The Tennessee Problem

The funny part is that while Tennessee is over there talking smack, Kentucky just landed its third quarterback of the portal cycle before Tennessee could even get one.

Kentucky's QB Haul:

Tennessee's QB Whiffs:
Tennessee tried its best to land top target Sam Leavitt, but it failed to do so, losing out to LSU. They couldn't obtain a 7th-year waiver for Joey Aguilar. And now, they sit without a proven starting quarterback in what is supposed to be an exciting offense to play in.

Maybe no one wants to have to hear "Rocky Top" over and over again while wearing that gaudy orange. You can't blame them there.
