SEC Power Rankings after Week 9: Kentucky at the lowest point in years

I never love moving teams when they are on a bye, and thus, this week, Georgia remains at number 1. However, other teams have to move because of losses further down the list.

The Aggies have a case to be number one. They still haven't had an SEC loss, and their win over LSU was pretty impressive. They pulled away from them, as great teams do, in the second half.

Vanderbilt gave them a run for their money, but unlike Alabama, Texas did not look past the Commodores. They were ready and went toe to toe with them. Now that Texas is in the teeth of its SEC schedule, the games have gotten harder. Their final games against mostly upstarts or bottom SEC games should give them quite the boost if they can take care of business. Texas A&M is the only team left on their schedule that should hang with them.

The Volunteers are a result of the teams ahead of them falling. Tennessee hosts Kentucky this week in what many are expecting to be a blood bath. However, Tennesee has had the most trouble against the teams that aren't expected to hang with them. Kentucky is hoping to shock the world as they did with Ole Miss earlier in the season.
Last week rank: 7
The Ole Miss Rebels looked great in their win over Oklahoma. It was a back-and-forth contest in the first half, but the Rebels pulled away in the second and never took their foot off the gas. They have a meeting with Arkansas this week, and that has a chance to give them problems.

I honestly thought LSU was going to win this one before the game kicked off. However, Texas A&M found the lead and kept extending it. As soon as LSU sensed things were getting away from them, they made it worse with desperation.
Last week rank: 5
The Commodores almost did it again. They truly look like a different team than at any point in their history. A new coach can do that. This Commodores team believes they can win every game, and it's fun to watch.
Last week rank: 9
Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide silenced a lot of the criticism coming their way this week with a big shoutout win over Missouri. There are still many in Tuscaloosa frustrated with DeBoer, but this has helped in many ways. They can move into their bye week with renewed vigor for the season.

Mississippi State is not a good team, but putting up 58 points on any FBS school is tough. Arkansas is ready to climb back into this SEC race. To do so, they need to take out Ole Miss this week.
Last week rank: 10
No movement for the Gamecocks as they were on a bye this week.
Last week rank: 11
No movement for the Gators as they were on a bye this week.

Missouri has shown itself to be a fraud in the SEC. They looked lost in this game, as if they didn't plan to play Alabama at all. Now, as we look back at their season, we realize that maybe they were never as good as anyone thought.

Auburn has been looking for that first SEC win, and Kentucky landed on their schedule at the right time. Kentucky doesn't seem to have any sort of plan or answers to its season-long erosion. Auburn took advantage and cruised to a victory.
Last week rank: 13
Brent Venables's seat has to be feeling really hot. The Sooner fanbase is not used to being bad, and right now, Oklahoma looks like one of the basement teams in the SEC.
Last week rank: 14
What to say about the Wildcats? Geeze, if the Coach doesn't have answers, neither do I. The whole football program needs an overhaul as soon as possible.
Last week rank: 16
The Bulldogs started the year last on these power rankings, and they have never moved. They are not a good program this year, and this last game against Arkansas wasn't even competitive.
