Things are going to thin out, you are going to lose players you didn't need to and some you did. That is just the nature of the Transfer Portal era in college athletics. I don't think you can sustain doing what Kentucky did last year and get 50 new players a year; that is excessive.
Kentucky is dealing with losses again this year, too, as 3 WR's hit the portal. Preston Bowman, Montavin Quisenberry, and David Washington Jr will all find homes elsewhere in 2026.
Kentucky football's WR portal churn sees 3 exit
Montavin Quisenberry
This is probably the biggest name of the 3. Montavin Quisenberry is an in-state kid who was a 3-star recruit coming out of Danville. He had over 2600 rushing yards and 2400 rushing yards in high school and was recruited by Vince Marrow, so Louisville is a name to watch here. They were a team in his last 5 along with West Virginia, Michigan, and Ole Miss. Quisenberry caught 1 pass for 4 yards for Kentucky this past year.
Preston Bowman
Bowman was another Vince Marrow player out of Ohio. He was a 3-star WR who had a track background in sprinting. That speed never translated to Kentucky. He leaves Kentucky with no official stats and is another guy who may jump over to the Cards.
David Washington Jr.
Washington Jr. is another 3-star WR who never really found his footing in Lexington. He left after 2 years, where he had just 1 catch for 9 yards.
These guys had been passed by Cam Miller, DJ Miller, and Hardley Gilmore but you still hate losing young and talented WR's to the portal. Will Stein has done a lot of work in the portal already. They have visits lined up with Kansas State's Jayce Brown, Auburn's Malcom Simmons, Tony Diaz of Rio Grande Valley, and DeAndre Moore Jr., who just left campus with Leavitt.
It remains to be seen if Stein can reel any of them in, but it is clear he is shooting for the stars. The biggest issue is now that Stein is back in Eugene getting ready for the CFP semifinals and will no longer be able to be there on campus for these vitis.
