Gavin Wimsatt didn't waste time during his second recruitment as he announced on Tuesday he would be transferring to Kentucky.

The Owensboro (Ky.) four-star prospect in the 2021 class originally left the state for Rutgers before entering the transfer portal this spring after losing the starting spot to Minnesota tranfser Athan Kaliakmanis.

Wimsatt committed to Kentucky while on his visit.

Wimsatt started all 13 games last season and accounted for 2,232 total yards, 10th most in a single-season in Rutgers history.

He threw for 1,735 yards with nine touchdowns but also eight interceptions. His completion rate was just 47.8 percent. Wimsatt is better-known for his rushing ability, however. He ran for 497 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Kentucky was looking to add talent and experience to the quarterback room, but there are now questions surrounding Brock Vandagriff and his fit in Lexington. The former Georgia QB is coming off a promising performance in Kentucky’s spring football game and was thought to have the position locked up.

Coming out of high school Wimsatt had offers from Louisville, Michigan, Ole Miss, Missouri, Notre Dame and a handful of other programs.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Kentucky now has a potential quarterback controversy on its hands. We'll see how it turns out.
