More evidence emerges connecting Mark Mitchell to Kentucky in ongoing eligibility case

Another piece of evidence has emerged connecting Mark Mitchell to Kentucky in the portal.

Just yesterday, it was revealed that numerous conference commissioners were actively fighting against Mark Mitchell's eligibility case. Even the SEC's Greg Sankey joined the bid to prevent Mitchell from being granted a fifth year of college hoops. Yet, within the same filing emerged a new piece of evidence that further suggests Mitchell's desire to play in the Bluegrass.

In a repost from Rare Rookies on X, a segment from Tuesdsay's court filing (per WDRB) gives an inside look into Mitchell's ongoing legal argument. "...Mark Mitchell is among at least three plaintiffs who have expressed a desire to play another season at a Kentucky school," it states.

"They argue Kentucky has an interest in his case because Mitchell "desires to play in Kentucky and would be harmed if he is not allowed to play this season." Beyond the hapless argument (at this point) from conference commissioners trying to prevent the floodgates from opening, it seems that we've got it in writing that Mitchell is working to play a season in Kentucky.

Louisville isn't involved in his recruitment, and some part of me doubts that Western Kentucky is making a push for an All-SEC transfer. That only leaves one option, assuming Mitchell gets clear.

Kentucky appears to be the obvious pick for Mitchell

This is the best possible news for Kentucky given Jaxon Kohler's commitment to BYU yesterday. Coach Pope had made a clear effort for the Michigan State transfer, but a reunion back home with the Cougars was always at the top of his predicted list.

It was most likely down to one of those two guys, and with Mitchell remaining on the table, the Big Blue Nation can't complain. With Missouri last season, Mitchell put up 18.3 points and 5.2 boards per contest, tagging 3.6 assists in the process too.

His 54.7% metric from the field proves a player who can score just about anywhere, including from long range - Mitchell shot 38.8% from deep. Defense would remain a question if Kentucky manages to land Mitchell, but at that point, who is stopping the Wildcats from scoring?

Mitchell makes Kentucky an unstoppable offensive team

Milan Momcilovic already poses a problem for SEC defenses, and Zoom Diallo running the floor as a physical, pass-first guard means Mark Pope can return to a similar system that he ran with Lamont Butler two seasons ago.

Plug Mitchell in at the four alongside Malachi Moreno, and you've essentially got all-conference potential at positions 1-5. It seems that the last domino left to fall now is Mitchell being allowed to play in the first place.

A decision could come in that regard as soon as today, BBN. It's all up to the podium now.
