Kentucky and Louisville fans are finally agreeing on one aspect of their historic rivalry

Kentucky and Louisville fans seem to have found one point of agreement within their rivalry.

Little love has ever been lost between the Wildcats and the Cardinals. If you're reading what I'm writing, I don't have to explain to you why the vitriol exists. It's a rivalry unrivaled by any other in all of college sports. That's what makes the point of agreement at hand so unique.

In response to Tennessee and Alabama football each repping their primary-color home uniforms this season, Card Chronicle's Mike Rutherford called for a temporary truce between Kentucky and Louisville. He wants to see the Cats and Cards install red vs. blue as a permanent color scheme.

Kentucky fans hit the comments with immediate support, surprisingly keeping the peace with folks from across the pond as both parties called for this to happen. As fans in the replies pointed out, both the women's basketball and volleyball teams have made this happen.

Why can't we see it on the hardwood this season - and every season, for that matter - too? Rutherford even pulled new UK athletic director J Batt into the picture, saying, "Perhaps J Batt will be on board."

What better way is there to get the Big Blue Nation on your side than to satisfy the most aesthetically appealing jersey matchup in college hoops? I certainly can't think of one, besides maybe upgrading the bathrooms at Kroger Field.

Another topic for another day, though.

Kentucky should restore the blue vs. red look across the board

It takes two to tango, which means both camps would have to agree alongside their fanbases here. Even so, this seems like the easiest layup of all time. Especially on the men's basketball front, where both programs are operating at a nationall relevant level, appealing to the crowd in either camp like this would surely go a long way.

Imagine this look on the football field, where this color matchup has somehow never once happened. It'd be made particularly exciting by Will Stein having worn Louisville's red at one point in time. We've just got so much to work with here.

I'm not vying for anyone to buddy up with Cardinals fans right now, but if it take a little combined support on social media to get this movement rolling, we may have to swallow our pride and spare a few likes and shares.

We've got until Nov. 28 to get the football team on board at least, with the men's basketball matchup taking place a few weeks later on Dec. 12. Get loud before then, BBN, and maybe we'll urge Kentucky and Louisville to get involved in a uniform trend that would make the best rivalry in college sports even better.
