Mark Pope has earned a ton of attention from the Big Blue Nation this offseason by finding ways to include the fans in Kentucky basketball's operations. Now, it's Will Stein's turn to spread the love. This Saturday at Kroger Field, Kentucky football will host a free "Meet the Team" event for Cats fans.
From 5-6 PM on Aug.15, the BBN can come grab autographs from players and coaches, as well as sport short interactions with their favorite Wildcats. A release from UK Athletics sets a few guidelines for the event, which includes one autographed item per person, as well as no posed photos to keep lines moving along.
Still, this is a one-of-one opportunity for Kentucky fans to get acquainted with their revamped squad. As the season gets closer, outreach attempts like this from Coach Stein's staff are surefire ways to get Lexington all-in on his new era.

Getting Lexington Excited for Will Stein's New Era
That's not to say that the BBN needed another reason to jump on the Stein ship. After Mark Stoops wrapped up last season with a 41-0 shutout loss to Louisville, it wasn't going to take much to revive a fanbase that had pretty much hit rock bottom.
Still, providing a no-cost opportunity for autographs is always going to go down as a win. The move is reminiscent of Coach Pope's postgame show and autographs at Rupp Arena, which has become a fond tradition for the basketball program even following home losses.
That would be a tad more complicated to pull off at Kroger Field, but maybe Coach Stein can come up with a similar way to engage the fans. Measures like that are important for Kentucky football, especially in the wake a coach who failed to connect with the crowd on a regular basis.
Will Stein is Prioritizing His Bond With Kentucky Fans Already
Fans will certainly recall Stoops' snarky request for the BBN to "pony up" NIL funds if they want a better roster. Stoops had his fair share of success in Lexington, but his ultimate relationship with Lexington boiled down to a frustration with, and failure to adhere to, changing times.
Will Stein is the opposite of Stoops in every way imaginable. He's a passionate, NIL-ready mind unafraid of embracing the expecations that come attached to Kentucky, regardless of the sport. This pop-up at Kroger Field is only the latest example of his commitment to a vision of real success.
That's why the stadium will be packed with fans this weekend, and that's why it will be packed on opening day, too. The energy is different around Kentucky football, and it's all changed before Stein so much as coached a single game.
