There were a lot of blunders in the Mark Stoops era, on and off the field. Sure, the losses were probably what got him fired, but the fan interaction didn't really help. Oftentimes, Kentucky football would announce a blue out, or another cool activity, 2-3 days before the actual kickoff of the game. Just enough time for people to complain about it, but not really all get on the same page.

However, Will Stein and the new regime are doing their best to avoid the same pitfalls.

Kentucky football announced the special events before the first week even started, and not just Week 1's event, but the entire season.

Now, we all know what to do and when to do it. So, please wear white tomorrow and show out for the team who also just revealed their jersey combination for week 1.

And they did it in an awesome way.

The Blue-White jersey combination is a great era starter for Kentucky

Kentucky football will be rocking a blue jersey with white pants and a white helmet. While they look really clean, the real story is how they actually announced it. See the video below:

A couple of months ago, the UK athletic department asked fans to showcase their best man cave. A lucky man named Willie James Hall entered and won. The team used his man cave to showcase the jersey combination:

I'm not saying this is going to help them win football games on the field. That will come with coaching and talent. I am saying little things like this go a long way in engaging the fanbase. It shows that not only is Kentucky listening, but they're responding, and they want you to be involved in all things Kentucky football.

Those things matter. When fans are engaged and loud, the atmosphere at Kroger Field is awesome. Listen to the reaction against Florida a few years back:

That is electric, and engaging with the fans builds that up.

Stein is hitting home runs before the season even kicks off with that kind of thing, and now he gets the chance to knock it out of the park on the field too.
