All of the Kentucky noise around All-SEC transfer Mark Mitchell has overshadowed every Mark Pope target that isn't, well, Mitchell. But Mitchell isn't the only contact that Kentucky has made this offseason, and one of the other names on his list just picked up a five-star rating from 247Sports. Keyshawn Hall is one of the top prospects in the nation, and he remains without a suitor.
Hall joins an exclusive list of some of college basketball's most exciting names. Joining him in that bunch is Milan Momcilovic, who is Kentucky's highest-rated portal commit of the offseason. As far as anyone knows, Hall to Lexington is still a possibility, even if Mitchell appears to be the favorite.
It would be odd how silent his recruitment has gone in that case, however. Since Hall teased both Kentucky and St. John's as landing places on social media earlier this month, no momentum has been achieved in seemingly either direction.

Keyshawn Hall's fit with Kentucky makes him a worthy prospect
Regardless of where things stand, Hall simply makes sense on the roster that Coach Pope has built for this fall. That fact alone makes him worth considering, even given his supposed locker room issues.
The latter worry comes from Hall having played for four schools in four years, but his most recent stint at Auburn should've been efficient enough to bury any rumors of troublemaking. In an All-SEC effort of his ow, Hall averaged 19.3 points and 7.1 rebounds for the Tigers, managing to shoot just south of 38% from three in the process.
Hall would fit right at home in Kentucky's three-spot, pushing Momcilovic to the four and forming what would have to be one of the most formidable scoring lineups in the SEC. However, the staff focusing on Mitchell may be the direct cause for this recruitment slowing down.
If Mitchell's case for a fifth year of eligibility falls through in court, Hall would be the ideal backup plan. But does he want to be a backup plan? Thus, a new dilemma is born.
Kentucky can't wait on recruiting Hall for long
It's easy to forget that recruits aren't tapped out of this process. Hall must be aware that Kentucky's previously active pursuit of his services dropped off in favor of the extremely public Mitchell recruitment. Would he want to play in Lexington at all after something like that?
That's what happened with Rob Wright and Zoom Diallo earlier this offseason, and Kentucky still landed Diallo. If Pope pulled that switch off once, he certainly has the potential to do it again.
The question remains just how long he has. With Mitchell's case set to wrap up this week, we'll know in a matter of days who is more likely to be Kentucky's final pickup. From all sides, it looks to be down to Mark Mitchell and Keyshawn Hall.
