After an unanticipated second stretch of recruiting madness right on the cusp of fall, Kentucky is still working to clear the runway for Mark Pope's main target to come to Lexington. Mark Mitchell's court ruling has been kicked to next week, per The Texas Trial Group, meaning the Wildcats' push to land him will have to wait a little longer.
After his hearing in Louisville was delayed by one day already, Mitchell's case was expected to make headway today. He's one of a battalion of fifth-year seniors who had been trying to run it back in light of the NCAA's 5-in-5 ruling, and while that isn't off the table, a decision is still being put off.
Parties will be able to submit additional material up to next Tuesday, and a ruling is to be expected by the end of next week.

Mitchell is a name that has come up time and time again on Kentucky's radar since this whole debacle began. He's looked like a natural fit at the four spot from the beginning, clicking into Coach Pope's style of play with ease. It almost makes too much sense.
The deal isn't done on that front either, by any means. Kentucky fans have counted their cats before they hatch before; we don't want to be in that spot again. But it's fair to point out that the signals are strong for Mitchell spending his final year of hoops at Rupp Arena if he ends up being cleared to play.
The Signs Strongly Point to Mark Mitchell Coming to Kentucky
CBS Sports' Isaac Trotter made waves amongst the Big Blue Nation earlier this week when he said Kentucky was "definitely in play" for Mitchell, noting that the blue and white were the squad he'd heard a lot about.
In the wider context of Mitchell's recruitment, no othe school has been seriously named alongside Kentucky as a suitor to watch out for. That could certainly change if he becomes eligible, but for the time being, the Wildcats have little competition in his space.
Which doesn't make a ton of sense, unless Pope got on this one extremely early behind the scenes. Mitchell is a bonafide star waiting to turn a team into a contender.
Mitchell is the Last Piece Kentucky Needs This Season
He's a 6-foot-9, physical wing who averaged 18.3 points on 54.7% shooting in the toughest conference in college basketball last season. Mitchell also shot 38.8% from range, he passes the ball well, and played nearly 35 minutes every night.
Mitchell is "that guy," in fewer words, and it's no surprise that Coach Pope has thrown the book at trying to land him. Once all the legalities are out of the way (we hope), nothing else will stand in the way of Kentucky actually making this happen.
