The latest wave of Kentucky-related transfer portal news has been mostly centered around point guards Zoom Diallo and Rob Wright. With that position being one of high debate and obvious need, it makes sense why the BBN have swarmed in droves to suggest (sometimes demand) it be filled first. And, with the former on campus for a visit this weekend, it seems like Mark Pope agrees.
But in casting a wider net regarding his recruitment efforts this time around, Diallo isn't the only prospect coming face-to-face with Pope this weekend. As was reported by KSR, transfer forward DeSean Goode is on the docket for an in-person meeting with the Wildcats before next week.
In addition to Goode's extremely strong rebounding numbers (averaging nearly nine per contest), the Robert Morris Colonial is also, statistically, one of the strongest shooters in the current class. Having shot 63% from the field and, even crazier, 57% from three, Pope's heightened interest in the wing makes obvious sense.

What's more? Goode boasted that consistency whilst scoring 15 points on a nightly basis, too. To that point especially, it isn't a shock that Kentucky doesn't stand alone in their pursuit. According to Adam Zagoria, Oklahoma, St. John's, NC State, and Louisville will also meet with Goode this weekend.
If Kentucky is going to land one of their potential starting forwards for Coach Pope's third year, the staff will have to execute a real full-court press in the short time they'll be given with Goode. Among a handful of additional visits, the Wildcats will have to find a way to stand out.

Still without a single commitment from the transfer portal so far, too, the water is slowly rising. We've all seen the big blue faithful taking to X in recent days, ready to hit the panic button on a season that hasn't yet begun.
Hitting the Panic Button
Kentucky needs a guy, and Goode fits the bill to such a point that the team should go out of their way to get him. Providing insanely high-consistency scoring and two years of collegiate experience already (with a massive, positive jump between the first and second), Goode looks to be the most obvious take that the Cats have made serious contact with so far.
But only time will tell if Pope and his staff manage to close this one out. If the transfer portal has taught us anything, it's to believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear. The only people who really know the deal are the ones involved.
In the meantime, Kentucky fans will have to hurry up, and wait.
