Will Stein is not on campus as he gets ready for the College Football Playoffs, but that hasn't stopped the visits from rolling in. Kentucky's focus remains on rebuilding the offensive line
We have detailed the rebuild of the offensive line that Will Stein is undergoing by offering elite high school recruits, but that theme has also appeared in the Transfer Portal. The first commit of the Big Blue Wall was Baylor's Coleton Price, who just happens to be the highest-ranked interior offensive lineman in the portal.
But that is just the beginning. Kentucky has visits with
Auburn's Xavier Chaplin
Chaplin was part of an offensive line that really struggled last season. But he personally did not. He played 482 snaps when Auburn was passing, and he allowed just 17 pressures and 3 sacks according to PFF. That is pretty solid production when you consider the defensive linemen in the SEC. He will be on campus today, per Chris Hummer.
Ohio State's Tegra Tshabola
Tegra Tshabola was a lightning rod of criticism this past season as Ohio State fans felt he underperformed. He is the former number 6 offensive tackle prospect out of the 2022 class. 247 writer Dave Biddle said, "However, in the vast majority of games this past season, Tshabola typically rotated out of the contest at the start of the third offensive series. He would usually re-enter the game the following series or later in the game, but it was certainly a sign that the coaching staff did not feel that he was performing up to his potential." That is not what you want to hear from someone who watches him play. But he has all the potential to be elite; maybe he can find that consistency with a new system. Matt Zenitz has the big man visiting Kentucky and Auburn.
Kentucky football is not forgetting about the defensive side
Rutger's CB Renick Dorilas
A former 3-star prospect out of NJ, Dorilas played in just one game this past season, meaning he will be a redshirt freshman when he signs with his new school. At 5'11 is a little more undersized than what Kentucky is used to, but remember this is a new scheme that values different things. He will be in Lexington on the 7th, per Chris Hummer.
Georgia's LB Kris Jones
Kris Jones is a former 4-star LB out of Virginia who committed to Georgia over Florida and Auburn, among others. He was recruited to Florida by Kentucky's new defensive coordinator, Jay Bateman, out of high school, before he moved on to Texas A&M. He will be very familiar with Jones, and that always helps in recruiting.
Kentucky needs more offensive lineman and to be honest, they need a few of everything. The portal has been kind to Kentucky with the players who have committed, but they have also lost some depth and important pieces along the way, too.
