The Transfer Portal never sleeps. News just broke that not only is former number 1 running back CJ Baxter on campus, but Kentucky had managed to sneak another Longhorn into Lexington, wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. To see the full write-up on CJ, you can click here.
CJ Baxter and DeAndre Moore Jr. are in Lexington right now
DeAndre Moore Jr. is a fantastic option at wide receiver. Our friends over at Saturday Blitz have him as the 8th best receiver, just ahead of Malcom Simmons, who will also be visiting Kentucky soon. Moore first explored NFL possibilities, but decided to jump into the Transfer Portal and use his last year of eligibility to try to enhance his draft stock. He left Texas after grabbing 38 passes for 532 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2025. Those numbers won't blow you away, but realize Kentucky's leading receiver in 2025 was Kendrick Law, who had just 540 yards and 3 TDs.
Moore is a classic deep ball threat. He is not someone known for short routes over the middle of the field; he makes his money in the mid-to-deep range of the field. In other words, he likes to take the roof off the defense. That is something that Kentucky sorely lacked in 2025, as defenses would crowd the line, making the short throws and runs nearly impossible. It caught up with the Cats against Louisville and Vandy, who both demolished Kentucky at a time when they only needed one win for bowl eligibility.
Will Stein raids the SEC for reinforcements
Now, Stein has 10 former SEC guys from programs like Auburn, Texas, Florida, and Arkansas locked in for visits. Last year, Kentucky raided smaller schools looking for under-recruited gems; this year, Stein and his staff are head-hunting with the big boys.
