Head coach Craig Skinner of the Kentucky women's volleyball team has reloaded in a dramatic way so far this offseason. The Wildcats were already one of the best volleyball teams in the country but now have added even more firepower with the addition of one of the top outside hitters in the game, Eva Hudson.
Eva Hudson has joined her former Purdue teammate Lizzie Carr at Kentucky.
This is the second major transfer portal addition for the Wildcats after adding Lizzie Carr (Andrew Carr's sister) last week. Both players join Kentucky from the same place, Purdue. The Boilermakers were an NCAA tournament team and one of the best teams in the Big 10, and a big reason why is because of Hudson and Carr.
Hudson was 11th in the country in points, which puts her ahead of any other Kentucky player. She had 618.5 points this last year. This goes along with being 5th in the nation in total kills at 567. In Purdue's tournament win over Loyola Chicago, she had 20 total kills. She's electric and will pair very nicely with Brooklyn Deleye in a way that Kentucky should find even more success next season.
Hudson will be a senior next season and will have one final year to help boost a team for a national title run, which is what Kentucky has its sights set on. They aren't going to be content with an Elite Eight or even a Final Four. They are looking for the national championship and will have the firepower to do it. While they lose some of their stars to graduation, others are waiting in the wings and now adding two huge stars from Purdue.
Skinner has proven he can coach and build an impressive roster, and next season, Kentucky volleyball fans will have a ton of fun as they chase the crown.
