Kenny Brooks has made recruiting waves all offseason, and the feeling goes far beyond what he’s established for the 2026-27 roster at hand. In an effort to play the long game late last week, Brooks locked down a Kentucky commitment from four-star, 2029 center Jayden McClain. Now, recruiting for the year prior, Brooks has secured an unofficial visit with a similar prospect.
Corona Centennial center Sydney Douglas, yet to receive an official star rating from 247Sports, will head to Lexington this week, per Talia Goodman. The 6-foot-6 prospect would be a ways out from playing in the blue and white, but locking her up right after McClain would have Memorial Coliseum in hysterics.
Coach Brooks is on a roll. Get out of this man's way or get run right over.

And, by the looks of it, Brooks' focus lies specifically on the frontcourt. Not only does that make sense in light of McClain's pledge, but Brooks' ongoing focus on making current center Clara Strack the center of Kentucky women's basketball further credits his expertise.
When it comes to Douglas in particular, she carries the sort of physical presence that, according to 247Sports' Brandon Clay, "schools across America covet on the interior."
Sydney Douglas Has Recruiting Appeal Nationwide
"Douglas skill set is diverse with her showcasing the willingness to handle the basketball in the open floor," Clay continued, highlighting what may be the most versatile asset of the big's game. "Her early career production at the next level will be largely determined by she blends interior productivity with perimeter versatility."
Who does that sound like to you, BBN? The answer is the aforementioned Strack - a center with the ability to move on the perimeter and score at multiple levels is, again, Brooks' developmental specialty.
He's trying to stack up on prospects in that realm for years to come, and even if Douglas isn't there yet, I'm not sure she could find a better match on the sideline than Coach Brooks.
Brooks is the Perfect Match for Douglas
Brooks' developmental tract is basically begging for players like Douglas to come to Kentucky and get better; if she does end up in Lexington, the possibility of pairing her with McClain in the post also becomes a possibility in the former's assumed second year.
The beginnings of a towering post-play empire are being built by Kenny Brooks right now. Strack's continued rise to stardom is the evidence, while the recent commitment from McClain served as a follow-up.
Lock down Douglas on her visit this week, and you've got a full-blown movement. Buckle up.
