Kentucky had almost zero offense going in 2024, but Jamarion Wilcox was a bright spot. Wilcox finished 2024 with 590 yards and a 6.2 YPC average. There was also a weird reason given as to why he didn't get more playing time. Remember this gem from Mark Stoops? That's right, he didn't get more playing time because he needed to learn how to tie his shoes.
Then came 2025, and reports were out that he was not responding the way the coaches wanted him to; they brought in Seth McGowan and Dante Dowdell, who both passed him on the depth chart. Then he was gone from the depth chart entirely. But that was the least of his worries.
Jamarion Wilcox's legal trouble complicates portal destination
Right before the season started in 2025, Wilcox found himself facing serious allegations of sexual assault. A temporary restraining order was filed against Wilcox after an incident in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20. The victim told police that Wilcox was supposed to be visiting her roommate at their apartment. He then entered her bedroom instead, around 1 a.m., without consent. If you would like to read the full complaint, you can do so here.
That means wherever he goes will have to look at the legal issues and make a decision on whether they want to bring him in. With as many as 4,000 players in the portal, a lot of programs may simply refuse to recruit someone with allegations like this.
Of course the legal process will play out, and Wilcox is considered innocent until proven guilty, these are all allegations at this point. But it adds a wrinkle to the whole process. He never played a game in 2025 for Kentucky, and he will not play for the Cats going forward.

Wilcox has a lot of talent, there is no doubt about it. We saw it when he was on the field in Lexington.
