When Jaland Lowe came to Kentucky fans were excited to see what the new transfer point guard could do. But in the Blue White game he slumped to the floor holding his shoulder. Luckily, it was just a minor injury. He came back and played in 2 games, then hurt his shoulder again.x If that sounds familiar, it should. Kentucky paid a heavy price last year.
And you'd think they would have learned already.
Last season, Kentucky had two point guards. Kerr Krissa was lost to a foot injury against Gonzaga, and then Lamont Butler injured his shoulder on January 14. Then reinjured it again in February, and then yet again in March. He bravely played through the injury because Kentucky just didn't really have a backup.

A glaring roster construction flaw
This year, despite going out and getting a really deep team, Jaland Lowe is the only true point guard on the roster. Denzel Aberdeen can play point, but he is more of an off-guard, and the same is true for Collin Chandler and Jasper Johnson. So, again the show was riding on Jaland Lowe.
And now he is hurt... again.
After going through that whole thing last year, you would have thought they would have been extra cautious with Lowe coming back. Instead, it was the normal recovery time, and he was wearing a brace just like Lamont Butler. That was a sign that Mark Pope should have seen and decided it wasn't worth the risk right now. But he didn't see it.
He probably should not have been playing. The training staff needs to re-evaluate how they handle shoulder injuries, because this will be the second year in a row a player comes back and reinjures the same shoulder.
The key is Kentucky could have waited, most of these games are cupcakes, and the ones that aren't you learn to play without Lowe now. He could have recovered even more, and maybe this reinjury would not have happened.
