Early Signing Day is like a holiday for many college football fans around the country. It's a time when fans get their hopes up for the future of their program. In some cases, that hope is warranted as many of these recruits will pan out and be stars at the college level. For others, it's irrational as those players become busts, but the joy of the day is the hope that it brings.

However, something was happening in Big Blue Nation that was unique to other fanbases and even to Kentucky football from years past. No one seemed to care. The social media accounts are posting about the signings, and head coach Mark Stoops is putting out hype videos for each recruit, and yet, from BBN, crickets.

Even when Kentucky was able to land a couple of flips, 3-star wide receiver Cameron Miller, who flipped from Wisconsin, and 3-star safety Grant Grayton, who flipped from Minnesota. The response to this (normally big) news was either nothing or jaded. The post from Nick Roush from KSR about Grayton flipping was met with barely any feedback, and the responses that did come were all similar. Sarcasm - "Yay, another 3-star."

It's indicative of the state of the program right now and the trust Kentucky fans have in Mark Stoops. One fan said something like, "Kentucky could have Randy Moss and Tom Brady in their prime, and Stoops will still go 4-8 again."

While many fanbases are finding hype and hope around Early Signing Day, Kentucky fans are using sarcasm to help them cope with another football season loading. That it will be more of the same, which at best is mediocrity and, at worst, a couple of wins on the schedule. Things are not hopeful for Kentucky fans, and it will take a miracle for Stoops to rebuild trust in the fanbase. This equals a really good season, which does feel like it would take a miracle.
