The longer the Big Blue Nation goes without a Milan Momcilovic commitment, the greater the fear seems to grow that the bitter rival Louisville Cardinals are set to steal him out from under Kentucky's nose. Paranoia is at an all-time high... but should it be?
In a post on X quoting the Card Chronicle's Mike Rutherford, Kentucky Sports Radio's very own Matt Jones sounded off in rare agreement with a guy from across the pond regarding the ongoing state of Momcilovic's complex recruitment.
Late last night, Rutherford felt certain that the No. 2 transfer "had still not made a decision." To that declaration, Jones shook hands, saying, "Yes and this has been true all weekend despite all the rest of the noise out there."
Cats and Cards fans both, we can stop trusting sourceless insiders and believing random discord screenshots about what may end up being the biggest recruitment for either side of the offseason. As far as we know (or just about anyone else, for that matter), this thing could truly go either way.
A Classic Toss-Up
In that way, Momcilovic's looming decision seems to be a classic toss-up as things come down to the wire. And while things appear to be between Kentucky and Louisville primarily, even Arizona hasn't technically been counted out.
Going from the highly-publicized recruitment of, say, Donnie Freeman, to the sheer lack of information regarding the air around Momcilovic is like whiplash for a fanbase that tracks stuff like this all the way through (looking at BBN, of course).

And for Kentucky specifically, Momcilovic's addition may make or break the competitive ceiling of Mark Pope's third-year team. The roster is solid already, but add in a 17 points per game scorer who shoots better than 48% from three-point range?
All of the sudden, you can beat just about anybody. But with the Wildcats as all-in as the other two schools primarily in the hunt here, it's simply a matter of waiting things out.
Waiting Things Out
That, I think, is where all of the false smoke begins to cloud things up. Fans get impatient as days go on and headlines only seem to lessen; news is wanted in any fashion at all, which leads to dubious reports and baseless rumors being pushed in from every direction.
In this case especially, it's led to the amount of real information that exists being cornered amidst a heap of indistinguishable hearsay. All we know for sure, at least right now, is that we know very little.
