Kentucky Basketball lands four-star small forward Cam’Ron Fletcher
By Alex Weber
Kentucky Basketball just picked up a commitment from four-star top-40 small forward prospect Cam’Ron Fletcher in the 2020 class
Cam’Ron Fletcher is your newest member of the Kentucky Basketball future. Here is the reel of talent the young 6-6 wing is bringing to the bluegrass state:
Cam’Ron, a name no nice they threw an apostrophe in the middle for seemingly no reason. (Wait, my buddy James just texted me. He said that makes his name look more black. And your odds of becoming an NBA All-Star increase tenfold if you have an apostrophe in your name. I’ll be going by Al’Ex from now on).
Either way, Cam’Ron Fletcher disrupted my Sunday morning lawn mow (40-year-old men in the suburbs twiddle their thumbs in cramped offices all week for moments like these) to pledge his allegiance to Kentucky following his visit. Alright, alright, alright. Always excited to add another high-star prospect to our recruiting class. It’s the only thing John Calipari loves more than Alaskan Bush People. And even though he gets older, these elite high school recruits stay the same age; and they stay coming to Kentucky. How’s this year’s crop of future freshman looking? They looking like some cats. Oh, and they can play basketball pretty damn well.
With Fletch and BJ Boston already in the fold, Kentucky Basketball has a dynamic foundation of two small forwards in the 2020 class who couldn’t be more different.

Besides, what’s with the sudden Calipari small forward renaissance? It used to be our least recruited position, but now we’ve got three or four on this year’s team and another two already committed in 2020. Remember like four years ago when the Phoenix Suns acquired Isaiah Thomas and paired him with Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic? Great, three point guards. What could go wrong? Three years later, Phoenix traded away all three in return for a collective sum of Marcus Thornton, one-legged Danny Granger (who didn’t play a single minute in Phoenix), Brandon Knight (another point guard!), Kendall Marshall (ditto), Greg Monroe (he would’ve been helpful during the Lincoln administration) and Zhaire Smith (who was traded along with a future 1st for Mikal Bridges).
That was a mouthful of NBA trade gymnastics and I’m sorry for those of you who “hate” the NBA and are best friends with Dracula. The point is that it is possible to have too many players at one position.
With Boston and Fletcher, throw in a probable return for Dontaie Allen and Johnny Juzang. That’s four small forwards. Sure, I suppose one or two of them could play out of position but it’s not like the rest of the roster is empty, either. Maybe I’m way off-base by worrying over having too much talent. Let’s just run our own version of The Bachelor next fall with John Robic handing out the final rose.
I hope the typical intense moronity which The Bachelor is notorious for doesn’t infest our locker room. However, this is a good pickup for Kentucky nonetheless. Kentucky Basketball Recruiting is surging with the addition of Cam’Ron Fletcher.
(By the way, did you catch the Dazed and Confused reference? I kinda snuck it in there, but not too subtly. If you’re confused, the clips I referenced are HERE and HERE).
