5. Grinding it out to close the game

Kentucky executed offensively down the stretch to near perfection. The Cats were playing with the lead, used the entire shot-clock, and took smart shots. The only way Buffalo could have made a comeback was to hit several three-point shots and for UK to take quick shots.

Gigeous-Alexander, Quade Green, Knox and Diallo all made intelligent decisions in the last 4 minutes of the game on offense. These decision allowed Kentucky to not only shorten the game, but also extend the lead. For a team with youth and inexperience, UK’s offensive execution in the last 4 minutes was very impressive.

This is a great example of the growth and development of Kentucky’s players this season. Kentucky basketball fans should truly come to expect this each and every season. When Calipari warns Big Blue Nation that it won’t be pretty early, he means it. But trust in Cal, BBN – he knows what he’s doing!
