4. You mess up, you’re out!

John Calipari was very quick to go to his bench today. Within 4 minutes of the initial tip-off, SKJ and Wenyen Gabriel had both checked into the game. Calipari’s message was clear: if you want to be on the court, then don’t screw up.

If a Kentucky basketball player missed a rebound, he was immediately coming out. When UK players missed defensive assignments, they came out immediately. When the Cats took advised and selfish shots on offense, Calipari took out the guilty player. Coach Cal is doing everything he can to ensure his players rebound, play as a team, and defend together. I expect that the rest of postseason play Calipari will continue to use similar tactics.
