4. Gaining momentum

As I’m coaching my team during the season, we talk a lot about winning streaks. It’s important for all teams, no matter the sport, to win multiple games in a row and build momentum. If you win a game, that’s great, sometimes just one win is really needed. If you win two games in a row, congratulations, you have now won back to back games. But if you win three games in a row, now you’re on a winning streak! (Little shout out there to Bull Durham).

Kentucky hosts Mizzou on Saturday, and I expect Rupp Arena to be lit! If the Cats can take care of business like Big Blue Nation knows they should, then Calipari’s squad will be on a winning streak! BBN should love this – the Cats were just on a 4-game losing streak and BBN was losing its mind!

Now the Cats have a chance to win 3 games in a row, and build some great momentum heading into the SEC tournament. As a coach, I can assure you that the players mindsets and energy levels feed off of momentum and victories. Kentucky basetball fans will see this team at its best when the team continues to win and continues to build confidence and momentum.
