After a big road conference win last week, the Kentucky Wildcats face off with Florida in week 4. Stephen Johnson talks Cats and Gators with Paul Finebaum.

Kentucky Wildcats quarterback Stephen Johnson helped to lead the Cats to a win in their conference opener in South Carolina. Coming up against another tough conference foe in week 4, how is he preparing?

Johnson finished the game against the Gamecocks 16/25 with 169 yards and one interception: a 90.6 QBR, according to ESPN. He will have his work cut out for him against a very tough Florida defense at home this upcoming Saturday.

Stephen Johnson sat down with ESPN’s Paul Finebaum on Monday to discuss the upcoming game.

Johnson started off the interview by talking about how well things were going for the Wildcats. “It’s going really well. We’re just trying to keep this momentum going, going into this fourth game now. We’ve got Florida coming to us so we’re just really trying to keep the foot on the gas and keep this whole thing going.”

Florida has been known for having a great defense for a while now, so Johnson will have quite the challenge in week 4. The Kentucky Wildcats defense will be a main key to victory in the game against the Gators.

I mean, there’s guys flying around. I mean, they’re really tuned in and locked in on the schemes that we’ve got prepared for each opponent,” Stephen Johnson said about the Cats’ defense.

Clearly Kentucky didn’t get off to the start they wanted in 2016. This season, though, Kentucky seems to be heading in the right direction.

Johnson also commented on the success so far this season, “when you’re fighting from behind you really don’t have a whole lot of confidence going into your next game. But when you’re 3-0 now, going into your fourth game, you’ve got a little bit more confidence under your belt.”

Kentucky has not beat Florida since 1986.

Florida has now beat Kentucky 30 times in a row. The last time the Wildcats beat the Gators was back in 1986, and Kentucky is looking to right that ship on Saturday.

Stephen Johnson is clearly hyped up for the big game, saying, “It’s huge. I mean, we’ve just been going one game at a time and now we’re finally (at) Week 4 against Florida. We can’t wait for it. Guys are hyped up. Everybody was ready to go as soon as we came in today. We’re really looking forward to this Saturday.”

The Kentucky football program will try to start 4-0 by doing something they have struggled to do for a long time, beat the Florida Gators. Quarterback Stephen Johnson seems to be ready for the challenge. See Johnson’s entire interview with Paul Finebaum at Cats Illustrated.
