Lynn Bowden is one of the most anticipated recruits of Mark Stoops’ tenure. He’s now ready to suit up for his first practice in a Kentucky Football uniform.

Kentucky Football kicked off Fall camp last week. After a number of practices, the Wildcats have been missing maybe their most prized recruit. Lynn Bowden was the headline commit of the 2017 class. The athlete out of Youngstown, Ohio made his pledge to the Wildcats even after receiving offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State in addition to Tennessee just to name a few.

Now, the star recruit will get his opportunity to make his presence known in Eddie Gran’s offense. Bowden is now behind the 8-ball so to speak. He has missed all summer and the entire first week of fall camp due to academic eligibility issues with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

But, according to Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, Lynn Bowden is now cleared to begin practice. This is a big deal.

What kind of impact will Bowden have?

Rookies have taken the spotlight in Fall camp. Guys like Clevan Thomas and Joshua Ali are just a few of the offensive freshmen that have opened the eyes of the coaching staff. A lot of the hype around this 2017 recruiting class has been with the wide receivers. Now, with the addition to Lynn Bowden to the party, things could get even better.

The immediate impact of the freshman offensive weapons will hopefully push the veterans to perform at a high level. Also, Kentucky’s wide receiver core has improved over the course of the last few seasons. There are NFL caliber receivers calling lexington their home.

Lynn Bowden may be the next big name. But, he will have to prove himself worthy of field time after having such difficulty getting eligible. Bowden has missed out on bonding with his teammates. The Kentucky Coaching staff should get him up to speed and get him in the rotation pretty quick.
