Kentucky Football received a commitment from Georgia running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. this afternoon.
From the outside looking in, when you search Chris Rodriguez on recruiting service websites, you’re not going to find very much on him. The McDonough, Georgia native made his pledge to the Wildcats via Twitter. He also chose to commit at a very opportune time when Kentucky Football kicks off their first day of Fall camp.
Rodriguez hails from Ola High School. He currently isn’t rated by 247Sports. He doesn’t currently have a star rating but, when watching film on the young man, a rating is coming his way.
Everyone knows that when Kentucky recruits a player, he obviously has SEC talent. Rodriquez is currently sporting offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
Film Study
With little to know about this kid, I decided to watch his Hudl highlight film. It’s pretty impressive to say the least. When you take the time to watch this kid play, you’ll quickly understand why this commitment is a big deal.
Rodriquez has an SEC running back stature. He stands six feet tall and weighs in at a solid 200 pounds. His speed is deceptive, but his power is what opens my eyes. Breakaway gains and missed tackles are a common theme among this film study. He takes contact very well and almost never goes down on first contact.
I know this is just a highlight film and the best plays are the only ones on it. But, by the looks of things, Kentucky has recruited and taken a chance on a guy they believe translates to the highest level of college football.

Kentucky is to the point now that they recruit the best. No, Rodriguez doesn’t have a four star rating, or any rating for that matter. But, now that he has made waves by committing to the Wildcats, other schools will take notice. I’d say many more Power 5 offers are headed his way.
