Kentucky Football: Does Kash Daniel take a step forward and contribute on the defense?

Kash Daniel, one of Kentucky Football’s top recruits in the 2016 class needs to get more opportunities on defense in 2017.

A small town product out of Paintsville, Kentucky is looking to make his mark on the newly renovated culture of Kentucky Football. Currently, the sophomore linebacker is playing behind Courtney Love. Love, a senior in 2017 has been very productive for the Cats. But, Kash Daniel is ready to play now.

Last season Daniel saw a number of snaps in relief of Love. But not many. Daniel could be found flying around the field on kickoff in addition to other special teams. If any fans watched the special teams periods, it was easy to spot number 56 hustling and making plays.

This offseason is providing Daniel with a great opportunity to get another year of conditioning under his belt. The Kentucky Football conditioning program has been well documented. A number of players have been taking advantage of the new facilities including Kash.

This season, Daniel will be working to be groomed into the next starting middle linebacker for this Kentucky Football defense. He will look to add more snaps on the defensive side of the ball as well as continue wreaking havoc on special teams. A relentless effort and hard nosed mentality will keep Daniel on the field. He is the prototypical run stopping linebacker that will provide a big spark to an improving defense.

Small town, Big name

Kash Daniel is a big name coming out of Eastern Kentucky. In the eastern part of the state, Football is a tradition unlike any other. As a former player in the eastern part of the state, I know first hand the hard work that Kash has put in. Being from a small community in Paintsville, where two very competitive high school football teams reside, Daniel has the cards stacked against him. It showed in his recruitment. Big time college programs don’t usually come to the mountains to recruit, but Kash Daniel was a special consideration.

Daniel is heavily involved in the game planning each week. After playing behind a veteran like Courtney Love, he has learned how to become a great player by working hard and going after what you want. Other linebackers like Jordan Jones are also there to help mold a young star into a tackling machine.

Daniel has worked his way into a big time role on this Kentucky Football team. He will look to take another huge step in 2017. Eastern Kentucky in addition to the rest of the Big Blue Nation can’t wait to see what’s in store for him. It wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Daniel in a starting role the next couple of seasons and surpassing the century mark in the tackles category.
