Player of The Year

Yante Maten, Georgia

Maten could’ve made a push for player of the year last year. If not for Sindarius Thornwell’s incredible season, he could’ve been the pick. Maten will be the focal point of the Bulldog team. He’s a tough out for anyone to guard. It’s not clear that there’s a better all around big man in the conference.

Freshman of The Year

Michael Porter Jr., Missouri

Kentucky Basketball fans may get upset at the fact that Porter is our pick to win Freshman of the Year. But, the fact is that he was the top ranked recruit is for good reason. He’s going to standout at Missouri. Kentucky’s freshmen are at a disadvantage because of the crowded locker room. I’m not saying Missouri will be the best team, but one player makes them better. One great player at Kentucky just makes them Kentucky.

Defensive Player of The Year

Robert Williams, Texas A&M

Williams took home the award last season. It’s difficult to see another player to dethrone the lottery projected big man. Texas A&M will be a top team in the SEC next season with a mature talented roster. Williams may be the beatbox player on the team.
