Kentucky Basketball is still in the hunt to add two more prospects to their current top rated recruiting class. Kevin Knox is making his decision on Saturday. The same day as the Kentucky Derby.

The Kentucky Derby is one of the most identifiable features of the bluegrass state. Another major influence on the state is Kentucky Basketball. Head coach John Calipari has made this program into a recruiting hotbed in his tenure. The 2017 recruiting cycle is coming to a close and Coach Cal is still hard at work to try and add another piece to the youth ridden 2017-18 Kentucky Basketball roster.

Kevin Knox, one of the top prep players left in the class of 2017 is set to make his decision on Saturday, May 6. Interestingly enough, Knox has chosen his decision date to fall on the same day as the most exciting two minutes in sports entertainment.

John Calipari has been reloading the stables each year since he got to Lexington. What a more appropriate venue and time to announce that he will commit to Kentucky as one of the new thoroughbreds heading to the bluegrass state.

Knox tweets his announcement date

The 6-foot-8 small forward announced his intentions via his twitter account Friday afternoon. Also, the Tampa Catholic standout is considering Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Duke and Florida State as his college destinations.

There hasn’t been a lot of buzz surrounding the Knox to Kentucky determination. One thing is true, that Knox is very close with fellow Mcdonald’s All-Americans and Kentucky commits. Jarred Vanderbilt, Quade Green, Nick Richards and PJ Washington all have grown close with the Florida native. But, the wait will end tomorrow afternoon.

A lot of experts have written off the Cats as an option due to the immense amount of talent headed to Lexington. But, things can still turn around in a heartbeat. As Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio pointed out, many of Kentucky’s big recruiting wins came at the last minute. Most recruiting experts had Julius Randle headed to Kansas, Trey Lyles to Louisville, and Jamal Murray headed to Oregon. As we all know, all of those individuals went on to star at Kentucky under John Calipari.

Who knows, maybe Knox has been keeping things hush hush so Kentucky fans can go absolutely bonkers on Saturday afternoon after sipping a few Mint Juleps at Churchill Downs.
