Sophomore wide receiver Jabari Greenwood is transferring from the Kentucky Football program. Greenwood becomes the third wide receiver to depart from the program this offseason.

Jabari Greenwood, a 6-foot-3 wide receiver from Washington, D.C., has decided to transfer from Kentucky. He was a three-star recruit out of Gonzaga College High School, and many Kentucky Football fans were high on this kid. There was potential for him to see some time on the field this year, but not enough to make him stay. Catspause.com had Greenwood listed at number two on the depth chart behind Blake Bone.

Greenwood is the third wideout to leave the program already this offseason. He has joined Jeff Badet (transferred to Oklahoma) and Dakota Holtzclaw (hasn’t committed anywhere yet). While this news has come to a shock to some, there is no reason to hit the panic button on Stoops and staff.

What Does This Mean for the Wideouts at Kentucky?

This obviously thins out the depth of our wideout core, but not to the point of alarm. This upcoming season, we will have four senior wideouts in Dorian Baker, Garrett ‘Juice’ Johnson, Charles Walker, and Blake Bone. To add onto that experience-driven core, CJ Conrad will continue to hold down the tight end position for Eddie Gran’s offense giving Kentucky yet another pass-catching option.

To end this, let me tell you why I’m optimistic about this season’s team. Stephen Johnson will be returning to the helm, with a year’s worth of rapport built with his receivers, and a bowl game under his belt.

Additionally, we have Benny Snell Jr., and Snell will not be feeding off of Boom Williams’ touches. This offense should be dynamic this season, and Matt House’s defense is steadily improving. There’s no reason the Cats shouldn’t get at least eight to nine wins this season.
