Kentucky Basketball big man Isaac Humphries may be leaning towards a future as a professional basketball player.

Kentucky Basketball’s Australian seven footer, Isaac Humphries could be the next Wildcat to step away from the program. Scout.com’s Evan Daniels tweeted some interesting news regarding the big man.

Some are giving Humphries the go ahead to return to Australia to play professionally. With limited minutes behind Bam Adebayo, Humphries didn’t see the floor as much as he expected in his sophomore season. Humphries is just 19 years old. His age gives him an added incentive for foreign basketball franchises to snag him early. A player who might not see the floor as much as he would like next season should explore his options. A career playing overseas is nothing to slouch about. Humphries would be able to sign a deal with a team and get paid to play right away.

Reactions from Social Media

Twitter reacted about the possible news of another wildcat departing from the program.

It seems as though people are drawn to the fact that Humphries could be something in professional basketball. Whether it be the NBA or The Euro League, the consensus is that Isaac Humphries would be a middle of the pack big man with shooting abilities.

Kentucky Basketball fans got a small glimpse of what Humphries is capable of during his 12 point breakout performance against North Carolina in the Elite Eight.

Kentucky Needs Humphries

It should be noted that Humphries could be used next season for added depth in the front court. Recruit Nick Richards will most likely man the paint next season as the starter. Humphries may or may not be alright with playing second fiddle to another freshman. One thing that Humphries should be mindful of, is the fact that Calipari would need to have more depth inside in order to win another National Title. It’s not out of the question to say that Humprhies would be a key contributor to a title run if he returns for his junior season.

The Wildcats will be getting the help of two power forward recruits next season. PJ Washington, and Jarred Vanderbilt will probably be starters as well. But, neither are complete big men in their respected abilities. Also, if Kentucky misses on Mohamed Bamba, the loss of Humphries would mean that Tai Wynyard, Sacha Killeya-Jones, and Wenyen Gabriel will have to find a way to man down the paint off the bench.
