Kentucky Basketball’s big man in the middle has come into some great basketball down the stretch. Bam Adebayo has been named the SEC Freshman of the week for the second consecutive week.

Kentucky Basketball is no stranger to the SEC Freshman of the week awards. Throughout the Calipari coaching era, plenty of awards were thrown in the direction of the young Wildcats. Whenever you bring in top tier talent each year, this is going to happen often.

Bam Adebayo has just been named the SEC Freshman of the week for the second consecutive week. The Kentucky freshman has come into his own as a presence in the paint. Over the course of the Wildcats’ current eight game winning streak, Bam Adebayo has averaged 13.8 points and 10 rebounds per contest.

This week’s performances are highlight by a 16 point, six rebound performance against Vanderbilt. Also, a 13 point, eight rebound game in College Station helped the Wildcat’s close out their 49th regular season SEC Championship.

Bam Comes up Big

A headline entering the 2017 Men’s SEC Tournament in Nashville should be “Bam Needs to Come Up Big”. Without stellar performances from others within the frontcourt rotation, the Wildcats turn to Adebayo in order to get some production.

Team rebounding has become an issue over the course of the season. After helping the Wildcats win nine of their last 10 games of the regular season, Bam has aided at the “board office”.

This time a year, the Big Blue Fans have little to look forward to other than Kentucky Basketball games. Us fans kind of shut it down all over the Bluegrass State to watch the games and prepare ourselves for the many nervous breakdowns that lie in the near future.
