You would think that the commitment of Gunner Hoak this week was the completion of the QB portion of the Kentucky Wildcats 2016 class, but four star Messiah deWeaver is to announce his decision tonight. Even though the buzz has been Michigan State for quite a while, deWeaver has not eliminated the Wildcats from his list. However, don’t expect a Yahtzee! tonight as all signs still point Sparty.

"Everything I’ve heard with him is that it would be a big-time shock if he didn’t end up at Michigan State,” said Allen Trieu, Midwest recruiting analyst for Scout.com. “There is probably a little bit of room for a surprise, but the absolute smart money is that it’s Michigan State — and it’s been that way for a long time.” deWeaver had committed to Michigan last year but reopened his recruitment in January after UM’s coaching transition from Brady Hoke to Jim Harbaugh. But MSU’s interest in deWeaver is more than just poaching a recruit from a rival; deWeaver fits the mold of the Spartans’ quarterbacks and provides a good fit."

Meanwhile, the Kentucky Wildcats prepare to head into the 2015 season with just two healthy quarterbacks on the roster. And Mark Stoops seems pretty confident with the pair of Patrick Towles and Drew Barker and seems confident that he can win with just two quarterbacks. Is that confidence justified?

"Of course, both quarterbacks appear to have improved from a season ago, but Stoops was also likely aiming to instill confidence in both quarterbacks as he and his staff aim to lock down a starter for the fall. Towles may not have done enough this spring to cement his starting spot for a second straight year, but one can assume he has a leg up in the competition even if Stoops and Dawson won’t admit it. After all, he has a full season of starting experience in the SEC, won two more games in conference play than UK had won the previous two seasons combined and is the more mature player of the two. Barker has yet to make his Kentucky debut and yet he’s already served his first suspension as a Wildcat and has been involved in a number of off-field situations that don’t present him in the best light. For instance, he may have been sucker-punched by a former teammate and current Eastern Kentucky University football player last week, and he was also involved in a fight with some EKU football players earlier this offseason at a bar near the EKU campus. Barker, a true freshman at the time, was not even of age to be inside the bar. That doesn’t exactly command respect or confidence from coaches."
