8. Ole Miss Rebels (11-2, 0-0) Last Week: W vs. Furman 95-68: The Rebels are one of those teams that may sneak up on some people this season. But, I am filing them under the “Prove it to Me” category as, much like LSU, they really haven’t played a tough schedule and they have a couple of bad losses. The Rebs can score (6th in the country) and rebound (20th in the country), so their effort under the basket is allowing them to put up some major points. We will see how good they really are as they kick off SEC play with Tennessee and Missouri back to back. This Week: 1-9 at Tennessee, 1-12 vs. #12 Missouri

9. Arkansas Razorbacks (9-4, 0-0) Last Week: W 86-52 vs. Delaware State: Like Ole Miss, the Razorbacks score a lot of points (7th in the country), but they also rank high in assists and field goal percentage. But, like most teams in the SEC, they’ve lost against the quality opponents they have faced and have yet to earn a top 25 win. They have no alarming losses on their record, but they don’t have any standout wins either. This Week: 1-9 at Texas A&M, 1-12 vs. Vanderbilt

10. Alabama Crimson Tide (8-5, 0-0) Last Week: W 85-65 vs. Oakland: So far the Tide have been a complete disappointment. They were a top 25 team to start the season but they haven’t had a winning streak since November 23rd/November 27th. They lost three games in a row, won a game, then lost two more in a row against Mercer and Tulane. Ugh. They defeated a decent Oakland team (if you want to call 7-10 decent) but play Missouri next. Their chances for a win streak just got slimmer. Their inability to score and rebound are the exclamation points for this team. This Week:  1-8 at Missouri, 1-12 vs. Tennessee

11. Vanderbilt (6-6, 0-0) Last Week: W vs. William and Mary 64-50: A win is a win, but a win like that against the likes of William and Mary can’t make one feel good. Yeah it was 14 points, but Vandy led by only five at halftime. This is one of the worst scoring teams in the country (315th) and they rank no better than 221st in all of the other major statistical categories (rebounds, assists, field goal percentage). Memorial Coliseum won’t be rocking like it was when Kentucky came to town last season, as Vanderbilt is struggling to sell tickets at $8 a pop. But, Kevin Stallings always has his team ready for Kentucky and that weird gym is bound to play a little havoc with such a young group. This Week: 1-10 vs. Kentucky, 1-12 at Arkansas

12. Auburn Tigers (6-7, 0-0) Last Week: W vs. Florida State 78-72: Attention, Andrew Wiggins: Florida State lost to Auburn. The Tigers beat the Seminoles, a team that has proved to be awful, but that can’t erase a loss against Winthrop. To their credit, Auburn has played a much tougher schedule than their western counterparts Ole Miss and LSU; the problem is that they aren’t winning those games. They almost pulled off a huge upset by losing to Illinois by two. If Auburn gets it together, they may not be awful. This Week: 1-9 vs. LSU, 1-12 at South Carolina

13. Georgia Bulldogs (6-7, 0-0) Last Week: W vs. George Washington 52-41: Stop the Presses! Georgia has won four in a row!! After a dismal start, the Bulldogs have managed to bring their record to one game under .500. Still, I wouldn’t call them good by any stretch of the imagination. This year is going to be mighty tough for Georgia, and they shouldn’t count on more than 12 wins by the end of the season. This Week: 1-9 vs. #13 Florida, 1-12 at Mississippi State

14. Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-7, 0-0) Last WeekL W vs. New Orleans 97-46: I’ll give this to MSU, at least they broke the 80 point barrier. But make no mistake about it, this team is awful. Again, they shouldn’t count on more than 12 wins in Starkville this season. Rick Stansbury, where have you gone? This Week: 1-9 vs. South Carolina, 1-12 at Georgia
