The Sacramento Kings drafted De’Aaron Fox with the fifth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The former Kentucky Basketball guard will enter a great situation with the team.

The Sacramento Kings left draft night with four major college players. It just so happens that each one of the four draftees played for a blue blood college program. Kentucky Basketball star De’Aaron Fox was taken with the fifth overall pick. Also, Duke star Harry Giles, North Carolina’s Justin Jackson and Kansas’ Frank Mason III will all call Sacramento their home.

At this stage of their careers, the foursome will enter a pretty good situation. A young Sacramento Kings squad will welcome them with open arms.

In addition to the four newest member of the Kings organization, Sacramento already has a few other Kentucky Basketball stars on their roster. Willie Cauley-Stein as well as Skal Labissiere starred at Kentucky before their NBA aspirations lead them to the purple and black.

The Kings Men

The Kings currently have a young roster. Although they are unproven in the grand scheme of things, they have a great base to build upon. With stacking up on talent from great traditional collegiate programs, the Kings are following a formula of many NBA teams.

Sacramento just released guard Arron Afflalo. The veteran guard was released assumably to make room for Fox and Mason. Both guards are very skilled and would be great assets to the growing Sacramento Kings Brand. These two guards will be under the tutelage of veteran Ty Lawson who has played in the league for a long time. Another budding star in Buddy Hield will hold down the wing in Sacramento for seasons to come. Former Calipari product Tyreke Evans is also making his presence known in Sacramento as well.

The Kings will be looking for a consistent scoring threat to pair with Buddy Hield and Tyreke Evans.  Fox as well as the other rookies will look to add scoring depth to the young lineup for years on out. One thing is for certain, Skal will blossom into a star. Willie will continue to defy limitations and the Kings’ newest draftees will play in the league for a long time.
